Thursday Update

Campers,
We are still being told the grinder pump part will be in the week of August 9th.  They will tell us when it ships so I will definitely pass that information on as soon as we are told.  Again, we will need approximately 2 weeks after it arrives for installation and inspections.

Meanwhile, we continue to pour more patio and utility pads so the campground is really taking shape and looking much more complete.  The electrical tower passed its rough-in inspection and is complete except for the roof which we will leave off until the electricians get their work in the tower complete.  We had a few anxious moments getting three 1,500 pound transformers lifted to the 22 foot level where they will be housed. But thanks to Mark’s excavator skills (which he just learned last week), we accomplished it successfully!

We have been experimenting with different types of grass seed in a few areas and are just about ready to make a decision on which type we will be using.  If the weather cooperates, we hope to get a couple rows planted this coming week. If anyone has expertise in this area and would like to share any suggestions on getting grass started quickly, feel free to share.
We have some new pictures on the website under updates. Thanks again for your patients as we continue to get closer and closer to our much awaited opening.
Have a great day.

Thursday Update

Campers,

When we called to check on the grinder pump parts this week, we were told they are 3 weeks out but could come sooner.  This is very frustrating since we were told they were only a few days out about a week ago. So at this point, we are looking at mid August for an opening.  We feel terrible about this whole situation of taking reservations and having to delay so much.  We are, of course, still offering a FULL REFUND for anyone who doesn’t want to hang in there with us any longer and we completely understand. However, from what we understand most of our seasonal campers are planning to keep their sites for several years, so hanging in there for this first crazy season will be worth it in the years to come.

Please send us an email if you would like to be on the waitlist for a site in the Riverfront (Row 1) or Riverview (Row 2) as we had a couple people cancel which has left a couple openings in those rows.  We have filled those openings with the waitlist but it is not as long as it was, so if you would like to be on that list in case others cancel, please let us know as our priority is to all of you who have hung in there with us for so long.

We are amazed and so very grateful for so many of you who have been so patient and supportive as we continue to work through this process and work as hard as we possibly can to get open as soon as possible.  We are going to give a short update like this every Thursday until we open to keep you informed.  Thanks again for your patience.

Construction Started

We are making good progress on the campground construction. However, the flooding a few weeks ago set us back a little bit. We have moved our opening to June 1st and are on track to be open at that time. We have two excavation crews putting in water and sewer and they anticipate having that complete by the second week of May.  Cullen Electric is handling the electric with plans to be complete about the same time. We are pouring footers for the bathhouse this week and hoping it will be complete in time as well.  We will still be able to open even if the bathhouse still needs a little more time.  So, yes, things are going well and the weather forecast looks great with only one day of rain for the next 10 days!  We are looking forward to seeing you at the campground this summer.  Many great campsites are still available for seasonal, monthly, weekly or nightly camping.  Seasonal prices have been discounted due to our new opening date of June 1st.  If you haven’t made reservations yet, do so now at our website, riverdayscampground.com.
